LORA NALBERCZINSKI, M.S. CCC-SLP
FOUNDER/ADMINISTRATOR,
SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGISTLora is an ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist and is the Center's Administrator. Lora opened the Speech & Language Center in 2007. She holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from James Madison University Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. Lora holds a VA state license, and is Beckman Oral-Motor, Hanen It Takes Two to Talk, Vital Stim, and DPNS certified. Lora has had extensive training in feeding and swallowing for pediatrics via the Talk Tools programs. Lora has been practicing since 2000, with experience working with children and adults in the schools and private settings, as well as home health, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient therapy centers. Lora has guest lectured at Bridgewater College and James Madison University. She enjoys regularly supervising Speech Pathology students. Lora is also the author of "Tumbling Towers of Articulation" published by School Specialty, and The Speech Bin. Lora received the ACE award from ASHA in 2011. Owner and founder of the clinic, Lora has been named one of the top 10 Under 40 Business Professionals in the second annual Shenandoah Valley Business Journal recognition in 2014.

ELIZABETH CAFFREY
EXECUTIVE OPERATIONS DIRECTOR
Elizabeth is excited to be a part of the Speech and Language Center. She has been here since the Fall of 2009. She was born and raised in New Jersey but fell in love with the Shenandoah Valley over a dozen years ago when she came to visit. She and her husband recently moved back here after a brief time away. They are glad to be back with friends, family, and the great community here to raise their family. "With over ten years of experience in the customer service industry it has been a delightful opportunity to transition into the role of Office Manager. I am grateful to Lora, the therapists, and the families here for being so helpful and welcoming."

KATHRYN "KATIE" DALTON, B.S. CSD
COMPLIANCE MANAGER
Katie began her time with the SLC as a volunteer intern. She officially joined the team in June of 2016 after receiving her undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from JMU. Katie has completed the SLCs Registered Apprenticeship Program for a Medical Assistant. She was born and raised in the Shenandoah Valley and has planted her roots here. Katie lives on a farm and enjoys spending time with her husband, little boy, and chocolate lab, Abilene. Her passion includes helping children and families get the care they need. She is honored to be part of such a talented and caring team at the SLC.

I lived in Mexico for nine years and graduated from Turner Ashby High school in 2003. I’m a certified Spanish interpreter through BRAHEC. I’m happily married and have three children. I enjoy spending time with them going on family trips. I enjoy traveling, hiking and salsa dancing. I feel blessed to be a part of the SLC and knowing that we are making a difference in our beautiful community.

Jennifer started at The Speech and Language Center in September 2022. She is originally from West Virginia but has lived in the Shenandoah Valley for many years. She has a husband who retired from the military and three beautiful children. She is very passionate about helping people and adores children. She is very grateful to be a part of such a talented, caring, and passionate team.

Soz started at the Speech and Language Center in September 2022. She is from Northern Iraq and speaks Kurdish and some Arabic. She has 7 years of working front desk reception and also has a CNA license. Soz loves helping people and getting to know our patients here at the SLC, and feels blessed to be part of the team!

Daniela started with SLC August 2023, a South Texas girl with a passion for helping those around her. She joins us with a background in customer service, medical interpretation and digital marketing. She has also gone to school for social work, as well as for intermediate education with a minor in special education! She is always happy to help not only her team but her community as well! When she’s not in office she spends her time teaching harm reduction at music festivals, she absolutely loves meeting and sharing space with people from all walks of life who also share the same love for life, and music.

Emily started working with the Speech and Language Center in February 2024 and has absolutely loved every part of it. She graduated from Blue Ridge Community College with her Associate’s Degree and has a very strong nursing background of 13 years. She adores children and hopes to have a family of her own one day soon! She is a very proud dog mom to a golden retriever and she is the light of her life. Outside of work, she loves photography and to decorate. She hopes to continue to learn and grow along side her wonderful coworkers and inspire others. She feels very blessed to be a part of the SLC Team.

CLINICAL DIRECTORKristin holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from James Madison University. She is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC). Following graduation in 2014, Kristin moved to be closer to her family in Franklin County, Virginia, where she received her CCC's working for a private practice in schools, outpatient therapy, and community-based Early Intervention. She also gained experience in a skilled nursing facility. Kristin returned to the Shenandoah Valley and began working at The Speech and Language Center in May of 2016 and fell in love with this community. She lives in town with her husband Blake, son Wade, and four legged family members. In her free time, Kristin enjoys trying out new restaurants, exercising at Orange Theory Fitness, being outdoors, and spending time with her nieces and nephews. Kristin's professional interests include hearing impairment, childhood apraxia of speech, and advocating for individuals with a variety of neurodivergencies. Kristin has led our Caregivers of Children with Hearing Impairment group and enjoys connecting parents and individuals with other helpful resources in the community.

ADRIENNE KROUSKOP, M.A., CCC-SLP
SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST,
DIRECTOR OF SLPA TRAINING, TEAM LEADAdrienne graduated from The Ohio State University in 2005 with her B.A. in Speech and Hearing Sciences and from the University of Pittsburgh in 2007 with her M.A. in Communication Science Disorders. Since then she has moved all around Virginia and North Carolina and is currently licensed in both states. She has experience in multiple settings including private practices, schools, and teletherapy. Adrienne’s professional interests include: training graduate students and assistants, apraxia of speech, fluency/stuttering, and voice disorders. At home she enjoys hiking, photography, playing ukulele and guitar, genealogy research, learning French, and watching college football.

COURTLAND MEYER, M.ED., CED, CCC-SLP

Courtland Meyer received her Master of Education from The University of Virginia in 1983. She has held her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association since 1987. Courtland has her license through the Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and is also certified by the Council on Education of the Deaf, as a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing. She is certified as an Early Intervention Professional and is also Hanen certified. Courtland owned a private practice serving children and adults with speech and language disorders in Culpeper, Virginia, for over 10 years. She also provided speech-language therapy to infants and toddlers in Rappahannock, Fauquier, Culpeper, Madison, and Orange counties. Originally from Harrisonburg, Courtland moved back to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in 2003, with her husband and two children. Courtland served infants and toddlers in Rockingham County and Harrisonburg City for more than seven years before joining the staff of The Speech and Language Center in 2012. Since coming to the Center, Courtland completed the training, “Introduction to PROMPT: Technique”. She also completed the Beckman Oral Motor Protocol training. In her spare time, Courtland enjoys spending time with her husband, John, her adult children, Ted and Sally, and her Sproodle, Rooney. Courtland seeks to make a positive change in the lives of all the clients that she serves at The Speech and Language Center. She is truly thankful to be a part of the SLC family.

AMY REXRODE, M.S., CCC-SLP
SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
Amy holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Virginia and Master’s Degree from James Madison University in speech-language pathology. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). Amy is also a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and SOFFI® Certified Professional. Amy has experience working in a variety of professional settings, including private practice, public schools, acute and outpatient hospital, and Early Intervention. Amy is trained in Beckman Oral Motor Protocol and has completed extensive training in infant and pediatric feeding. She has also completed lactation specific training with competency verification in breastfeeding and lactation support. Her professional areas of interest include infant and pediatric feeding disorders, aphasia, speech sound disorders, and early language development. Amy grew up in the Shenandoah Valley where she currently resides with her husband and two daughters. Amy cherishes the opportunity to work with the wonderful families and team of therapists at The Speech and Language Center to meet each of her clients’ individual needs. -
CALEIGH LITTLE, M.S., CCC-SLP, ASDCS

AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER CLINICAL SPECIALIST, AAC COORDINATOR
Caleigh holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from James Madison University. She is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association, is certified as an Early Intervention Professional, and is a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist. She is also certified in It Takes Two to Talk- the Hanen Program for Parents of Children with Language Delays. Caleigh has professional experience in a variety of settings including Early Intervention, outpatient clinics, and public schools. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, cooking, and gardening. Her professional areas of interest include early intervention, autism and neurodiversity-affirming practices, parent coaching, and AAC.

Katie received her Bachelor’s degree in English from Liberty University in 2016 and her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from James Madison University in 2020. She completed an internship at the Speech and Language Center during the Spring of 2020, and came to work here after graduating. She is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC). She has experience in acute and inpatient hospital settings as well as schools and pediatric private practice. Katie grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and is excited to be able to call Harrisonburg home. In her free time she enjoys traveling, surfing, horseback riding, skiing, and hiking.

Claire received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from James Madison University in 2016, and her Master’s of Education degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of West Georgia in 2018. She is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). Claire has experience working in the public schools (elementary, middle, and high school), teletherapy, and outpatient pediatric setting. Claire completed an internship at the SLC in 2015, a graduate externship at the SLC in 2017-2018, and completed her Clinical Fellowship at our office in 2018-2019. She is thrilled to be back at the SLC and enjoys working with patients with autism, early language delays, and young adults with disabilities. In her free time, Claire enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and rescue pup. She enjoys traveling, concerts, reading, exercising, and spending time exploring the Shenandoah Valley.

Madeleine received her Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from Centre College and her Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from James Madison University. She has previous experience in schools and skilled nursing facilities. Her professional areas of interest include speech sound disorders, aphasia, and childhood language disorders. In her free time she enjoys baking, crafting, and hiking.

ALEX MICHONSKI, M.ED. CCC-SLP
SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
Alex received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Marymount University in 2016, and her Master's of Education degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from University of Virginia in 2019. She is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). Alex has experience interning and working with the school system, an outpatient adult hospital setting, and a pediatric outpatient clinic. She fell in love with the mountains during her time at UVA and is so excited to be in Harrisonburg surrounded by the mountains again. Alex enjoys working with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and finds joy in helping provide a "voice" to clients who may not yet have found theirs. In her free time, Alex loves working on jigsaw puzzles, getting outdoors, and channeling her creative side through art and crafting.

Megan received her BA in Spanish with a minor in Linguistics at the University of Texas at Arlington, and her MS in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Oregon. Megan is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). She worked with adults in hospitals, outpatient, and skilled nursing settings in Washington State before moving back to Texas where she served school-age children as a Bilingual SLP in a large North Texas school district. She also worked with children with autism in a private ABA clinic. Megan moved to Virginia in 2018 and now calls the Shenandoah Valley home. She’s grateful for her amazing colleagues at the SLC and the opportunity to serve individuals and families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, as well as children with early language delays, speech sound disorders, and autism. Megan has lived in southern Mexico and traveled to Spain, Honduras, and Argentina. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, playing music, and going out to the forest.

Reilly is a clinical fellow from Staunton, VA. She graduated from The University of Virginia in 2022 with her B.S. in COSD Education and from Radford University in 2024 with her M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She completed an internship with The Speech and Language Center in 2021 and a graduate externship in the summer of 2024. She is excited to continue here at the SLC and is grateful to remain local to the valley. Her professional interests include speech sound disorders, dysphagia, and aphasia. When not at the SLC, Reilly enjoys cooking, traveling, reading, and spending time with her friends, family, and pets Seuss, Uno, and Dutch.

Aimee is an occupational therapist and has been with the SLC since December 2017. She has a Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy from Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences/Mary Baldwin University (2017). She has been a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) since 2014. Her practice areas of interest are sensory integration and neurodevelopment. In 2021, Aimee received certification to begin using the Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT) and continues to work toward Board Certification and certification as a Sensory Integration Specialist. In her free time she enjoys vegetarian cooking, hiking, playing with her dogs, reading, and traveling.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology through George Mason University. Catherine has been a member of her national and state OT associations (AOTA and VOTA) since 2016. Catherine is a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist. Originally from Roanoke, VA, Catherine enjoys the Shenandoah mountains and any outdoor activities. In her free time, she is walking her dog Henry or riding on the back of her husband's motorcycle.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
Caroline is an alumni of both James Madison University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in health sciences and a minor in special education, and Messiah University where she received her Master’s degree in occupational therapy. Caroline has been a member of AOTA since 2019 and began working at SLC in 2021. Caroline has over 15 years of ballet training and three years of teaching experience which has fueled her interest in sensory integration in regards to the connection between movement and the brain. Caroline hopes to eventually use her background in ballet to combine the benefits of dance with occupational therapy. Caroline loves spending time in the mountains whether it is hiking with her husband and dog, rock climbing, or floating down the river. However, originally from Virginia Beach, VA, Caroline always looks forward to trips home during the summer to visit family and spend time at the beach.

Kelsey is a recent graduate of Radford University where she received her Master's degree in occupational therapy. She attended James Madison University for undergrad where she received her Bachelor's degree in health sciences. Kelsey's fieldwork experience includes outpatient pediatrics and mental health in the young adult population. She has been an AOTA member since 2020. Kelsey grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and is excited to begin her career at SLC to work alongside skilled therapists and staff. In her free time, Kelsey enjoys anything outdoors - running, mountain biking, gardening, or reading on the porch, as well as spending time with family.

Nicole received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from George Mason University and her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Shenandoah University. She is certified as an Early Intervention Professional and is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). Nicole recently moved to the Shenandoah Valley and has enjoyed exploring the mountains and getting outdoors with her partner and her dog. In her free time she enjoys hiking, reading, spending time with her family, and playing video games.

Whitney earned her Bachelor's in Psychology from Shepherd University in 2013 and began at the Speech and Language Center as an intern. Most of her experience has been working with children, but she's also worked with seniors in their homes. She has her Master's in Special Education with a specialty in Applied Behavior Analysis from George Mason University. She enjoys baking and cooking, traveling, gardening, and being involved in the Harrisonburg community. She is incredibly excited to grow this department to educate and help families reach their goals through the use of behavior therapy!

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Human Development & Family Science in 2014 from Messiah University and obtained my master’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis from James Madison University in 2022. I have worked in the field of ABA since 2015 primarily in homes and clinic settings, and worked in Early Intervention for a few years. I also have an interest in how behavior analysis is applied in other areas such as Organizational Behavior Management, addiction, and environmental sustainability. I enjoy traveling and being outdoors, hiking with my dog, baking, attending sports and social events in the community, and yoga. I am excited to be a part of SLC to continue helping more individuals access what they need to reach their goals!

Addison earned her Bachelor’s in Special Education K-12 with Adapted and General Curriculum endorsements through James Madison University in May 2023. She is currently in JMU’s Masters of Special Education with a behavior specialist concentration program in working towards becoming a BCBA. She is from the Richmond area and enjoys traveling, sports, and movies.

Logan earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from James Madison University in December 2023 and joined the Speech and Language Center as a behavior technician in January 2024. She has worked with kids for 5 years, from after-school care settings to swim lessons. She is from the Charlottesville area and loves to be outside, go to the movies, and read. She is very excited to help children and their families meet their goals and see the children grow!

LOUDOUN LOCATION TEAM LEADJenny received her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Connecticut and her Master’s degree from Texas Woman’s University. She is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC). She has experience in pediatric private practices, contracts with schools (preschool, elementary, middle, and high school), and teletherapy. Originally from Massachusetts, Jenny has lived and worked in Connecticut, Texas, and Alaska before moving to Virginia in 2021. Her professional interests include working with neurodiverse individuals and patients with speech sound disorders, language disorders, and pediatric feeding disorders. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, hiking, visiting friends and family, and going on walks with her dog. Jenny is thrilled to be a part of the SLC team and use her experience and passion to support Northern Virginia families.

Darya is a licensed member of the Virginia Board of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists. She graduated with her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from George Washington University and Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from James Madison University. Darya enjoys working with children of all ages with a variety of diagnoses including speech sound disorders, phonological disorders, expressive and receptive disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and augmentative and alternative communication. She has experience working in the public school setting, clinics and teletherapy. In her free time, Darya enjoys walking, playing board games, trying out new recipes, and spending time with friends and family. Mary Kate is a licensed member of the Virginia board of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists. She completed both her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at James Madison University. Mary Kate’s clinical interests lie in speech sound disorders, early language delays, motor speech impairments, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and autism. She is especially passionate about providing services that are play-based, child-led, and neurodiversity-affirming. Mary Kate has experience working in outpatient clinic, preschool, private practice, and skilled nursing settings. In her free time, she enjoys traveling to new places, cooking, going on walks, and spending time with family and friends. Mary Kate is thrilled to be part of the SLC Loudon team and looks forward to helping patients reach their goals!

YASNELI LLEO, M.A., CCC-SLP

Yasneli is a licensed member of the Virginia Board of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists. She graduated with her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Florida and a Bachelor's degree in Communication Science and Disorders." Yasneli's clinical interests include working with children of all ages with a variety of diagnoses including, language disorders, phonological disorders, autism spectrum disorder, feeding, hearing loss, and augmentative and alternative communication. She received additional specialized training in early intervention studies through the University of Florida's INSPIRE program. She has experience working in homes, daycares, outpatient hospitals, clinics, and schools. In her free time, Yasneli enjoys going on walks with her dog, exploring the DC area, and reading a good book. Yasneli is excited to be part of the SLC Loudon team and looks forward to helping patients and their families thrive.

SAMANTHA ALEXANDER, M.A., CCC-SLP
SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
Sammie received her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from James Madison University and her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of North Carolina - Greensboro. She is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). Sammie is also an NLA Trained Clinician, meaning she received training in the Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) framework to support children who communicate through delayed echolalia/scripting. Sammie enjoys providing therapy for a variety of different speech and language disorders, though her professional interests include speech sound disorders, autism and neurodiversity affirming practices, and Gestalt Language Processing (GLP). In her free time, Sammie enjoys traveling, reading, playing music with her dad, taking workout classes with friends, and spending time with her cats, Ginny and Boogie! Sammie is so excited to be a part of the SLC team and is looking forward to helping her patients reach their communication goals!

SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
Megan is a licensed member of the Virginia Board of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists. She graduated with her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Towson University, and her Bachelor’s degree in Hearing and Speech Sciences from the University of Maryland. Megan’s clinical interests include working with children with a variety of diagnoses, including hearing loss, expressive and receptive language disorders, speech sound disorders, and autism spectrum disorder. She has experience working in outpatient centers and specialized schools. In her free time, Megan enjoys staying active, reading, spending time with friends, family, and animals, and playing board games. She was born and raised in Maryland, but can't wait to live in Virginia and explore the area. She is so excited to be a part of the SLC family and get to know and work with patients and their families!

JESSICA BUTCHER, OT
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
Jessica is a graduate of West Virginia University where she completed her undergraduate and professional education. She received her bachelor's degree in Human Performance and Health, as well as minors in Communication Studies and Child Development & Family Studies, before going on to receive her Master's degree in Occupational Therapy. Jessica's fieldwork experience includes outpatient pediatrics and acute care in a children's hospital setting. Jessica enjoyed being involved in her community while attending college, and her favorite experience was volunteering as a cuddler in the children's hospital NICU. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outside, trying new restaurants, traveling, and reading. Jessica is excited to get to know the families in the community and to grow along with the clinic. She is looking forward to collaborating with other disciplines at SLC to provide the highest quality of care for patients and their families

BOARD CERTIFIED LICENSED BEHAVIORAL ANALYST
Dulce received her master’s in education from George Mason University and completed her postgraduate coursework in ABA at the Florida Institute of Technology. Dulce has been working with children and adolescents since 2010 in various settings which include residential programs, day programs, private schools, and clinical settings. In 2016 she began working in the ABA field providing in-home services in the community. Dulce uses a child-led, play-based approach, following the interests of the child. She is excited to join the Speech and Language Center and become a member of a multidisciplinary team! In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and crafting.

Laura is a student at George Mason University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Developmental Psychology. Laura has worked with children and adolescents with developmental disorders (primarily Autism, Down Syndrome, ADHD) since 2018 in a variety of settings such as a swim instructor, babysitter, tutor, and RBT providing in-home and community services. In her free time, Laura enjoys lifting weights, yoga, hiking, crafting, playing with her family dog and cat, and spending time with family and friends.

Barbara Lynn "Barb" Winegord, 54, of Massanutten, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday June 8th, 2013, after a three and a half year hard fought battle with Ovarian Cancer. Born on March 24, 1959 in San Antonio, TX, Barbara was the daughter of Fred and Joan Malmstone and the late Helen G. Frace Malmstone. She was the loving wife of Timothy Lynn Winegord, who together, recently celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary. Barbara was moved to helping people by pursuing her degree in Nursing, after the passing of her beloved son Joseph, in May of 1987 to cancer. In the 19 years of her profession, she was employed by Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in PA then explored the country as a travel nurse, finally settling in VA where she met her soulmate Tim, and continued her passion as an OR Nurse at RMH, UVA, and Augusta Health.The Speech and Language Center was lucky enough to have Barb on our staff for a short time. With her radiant smile and laughter, Barbara has touched the lives of so many people within whom her spirit will live on indefinitely. Barbara's legacy and wish is to continue to promote Ovarian Cancer Awareness to support Ovarian Cancer research to assist those brave women and their families who are in acute financial need due to battling this deadly, non-discriminating disease.
